Mumbai Goa Cycling Tour

DAY 1 & 2 Mumbai

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to hotel, a journey that takes approximately one hour. The remainder of the day is dedicated to relaxation, allowing you to overcome any jet lag and prepare for your upcoming cycling adventure. On Day 2, we will get ready for sightseeing in Mumbai. We will start with a visit Dharavi, located in Mumbai, India, is one of the largest slums in Asia. Despite its challenging living conditions, Dharavi is known for its vibrant community and bustling informal economy. And Gateway of India and the Prince of Wales Museum, one of the premier museums in India. It has three main sections: Art, Archaeology, and Natural History. The museum showcases some of the rarest and most ancient exhibits of Indian history.

DAY 3 Murud Janjira

After breakfast, we will pack our gear and board the ferry for transfer from Mumbai to Mandwa Jetty. We will disembark at Mandwa and start riding along the coastal route towards the historic province of Murud. The backroad ride will take us through small tributaries leading to the Arabian Sea and rustic villages. Further along, we will cycle by the Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary, which is abundant in its coastal woodland ecosystem and has a wide variety of flora and fauna. We will reach a serene beach resort to wind up today’s ride. In the evening, we will visit the historic and unconquered Murud-Janjira Island Fort.

DAY 4 Karde Beach, Dapoli

Today, we will start our ride with a ferry crossing over the wide Rajapuri Creek. After disembarking, we will ride through fishermen's villages with scenic views of the Arabian Sea. Traversing the moderately undulating backroads, we will reach the banks of the Savitri River for another ferry crossing. This is a great opportunity to interact with the locals, as the ferry is their only means of commuting across the banks. We will end our ride in Dapoli, located in the Ratnagiri district – a coastal hill station historically used by British troops. Here, we will settle down at a tranquil beach resort in Karde.

DAY 5 & 6 Ganpatipule

After breakfast, we will start cycling along the moderately undulating terrain through the coastal villages. We will cross the Vashishti River and ride to Veleneshwar Beach (around 75 km) for a picnic lunch at the beach. After lunch, a short rest, and maybe a quick swim at the scenic beach, we will ride further south to cross the Shastri River and witness the Jaigad Fort standing tall against the bay formed by the river. We will then enter the erstwhile Marathwada province, the land of the brave Marathas who once ruled here before the Mughal reign. We will continue our ride to reach another tranquil beach at Ganpatipule and rest for the day at a private beach resort.

DAY 7 Ambolgad

Today, we will ride on the undulating coastal backroads of Ratnagiri, passing through fishermen's villages, fish markets, and small temples. We will ride past the shallow basin of the Kajali River, which forms a vast expanse of mangrove forest adjoining the coast. We will also pass through Ratnagiri town, along the Ratnadurg Fort, Mandavi Beach, and the agrarian suburbs. We will further cross the Purnagad Creek, formed by the Muchkundi River, and Gaonkhadi Beach to reach Ambolgad Beach Village – our destination to end the day’s cycling. We will spend the night at a secluded yet comfortable beach house with a scenic beach right in front.

DAY 8 Malvan

After breakfast, we will cycle through the moderately undulating backroads of Sindhudurg, crossing various rivers, starting from the Vaghotan, Devgad, Naingre, Achara Gad, and Karli. We will ride past small temples, agricultural lands, and suburbs with historic Maratha forts like Devgad and Bhagawatgad nearby. After lunch, we will cycle along coastal and non-tarmac roads. We will traverse the Kolamb Creek to reach the secluded beach of Malvan on the Konkan Coast. We will spend the night at a serene beach resort with the beach so close it feels like it's in the front yard. You will be able to see the Island Fort Sindhudurg and the Padmagad Fort towards the distant southwest frontiers of the bay.

DAY 9 & 10 Anjuna, North Goa

After breakfast, we will ride our bikes through coastal roads, which may be non-tarmac in some sections. We will cross the Terekhol River to leave the vast state of Maharashtra and enter the small sunshine state of India – Goa. Once an important Portuguese settlement, Goa is splendid with its customary architectural remnants, churches, monuments, food, and culture, apart from its golden sandy beaches and colorful nightlife. We will pass along the hippie beach of Arambol by the hills. There is a nesting site of the Olive Ridley Sea Turtles at Morjim Beach bay. We will ride past the famous Chapora Fort by the river to reach the picturesque beach of Anjuna. Here, we will spend the night at a boutique hotel inspired by traditional Goan architecture. It’s a well-deserved free day at one of the best beaches on the trail. On day 2 you can spend your free day basking in the sun and taking a dip in the shallow waters to rejuvenate your body and mind.

DAY 11 & 12 Agonda, South Goa

Today, we will ride from the lively North Goa to the more tranquil South Goa. We will cycle along the popular beaches of Baga and Calangute, cross the Mandovi River to enter Old Goa, known for its heritage sites like the Basilica of Bom Jesus, which houses the remains of St. Francis Xavier. We will then ride through village roads, passing Portuguese-styled houses, churches, mangroves, coconut and cashew trees, and restaurants serving Goan Fish Thali and the favorite local beverage, Feni, brewed from the juicy cashew fruit. We will continue through the serene beaches of Varca and Cavelossim to reach the tranquil beach of Agonda. Here, we will spend the night at a beach resort with palm groves and beautiful wooden cottages adjacent to the pristine beach.

After breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport.
