Rhododendron Sanctuary Borders on Nepal Sikkim

The Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary Trek offers a perfect opportunity to explore the North Eastern Himalayan foothills and its unique and diverse ecosystem, which is considered one of the biodiversity 'hot spots' on Earth. The sanctuary's vibrant species of rhododendrons and windflowers attract a wide variety of birds, making it a notable birding hotspot. Your trek will take you through this magnificent natural world, across undulating terrain, often on steps hewn into the mountainside by past generations. Over five days, you will navigate a maze of Himalayan ecosystems, including endemic rhododendron forests, bamboo groves, and rolling meadows. The experience of walking in the shadow of the great Himalayan mountain ranges will be unforgettable. During the trek, you will enjoy spectacular views of the Himalayas by day, sit around a roaring campfire in the evenings, and sleep in tents beneath a starlit sky within the forest canopy. You will be assisted by a team of porters, cooks, and guides who will carry your luggage, tents, and camping gear. The sight of local porters carrying your provisions in dokos (baskets) with head and shoulder straps will vividly match your adventurous expectations. The ultimate highlight of the trek is the breathtaking view of the ice-clad Kanchenjunga ranges. Additionally, the chance to retrace historic trails once traversed by travelers heading into Nepal adds an exciting dimension to this hike. On non-trek days, you will stay in premium, comfortable hotels and a homestay while exploring local villages and Buddhist monasteries.
